Victorville’s Unsheltered Homelessness Declines by 68% Since 2024

Victorville has achieved a remarkable 68% reduction in its unsheltered homeless population over the past two years, according to the latest Point in Time Count released by the County of San Bernardino. This significant decrease reflects the city’s dedicated efforts to combat homelessness through innovative programs and partnerships.

Victorville Wellness Center: A Cornerstone of Success

Central to this achievement is the Victorville Wellness Center, which opened in December 2023. The center provides transitional housing, healthcare, and comprehensive support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Mayor Liz Becerra highlighted the center’s impact, stating, “We are gratified to see our Wellness Center be so impactful in such a short time.”

Collaborative Efforts Yield Results

The city’s approach includes collaboration with organizations like Kaiser Permanente, which has supported Victorville’s initiatives through community health grants and a comprehensive care approach. These partnerships have been instrumental in providing medical respite care and other essential services, contributing to the overall decline in homelessness.

Looking Ahead

While the reduction in homelessness is encouraging, city officials remain committed to sustaining and building upon this progress. Continued investment in housing solutions, healthcare services, and community partnerships will be essential in maintaining the downward trend and ensuring that all residents have access to safe and stable living conditions.
